I'm afraid alko does not produce shock absorbers, they only retro fit a chassis extension to most motorhomes,

Hi Geoff..

Alko chassiss are, as said above, retro fitted by the motorhome manufacturer and they are lower and usually longer(with possibly with a  longer wheelbase?), than the original factory chassis they replace.

Suspension-wise, they use a *torsion beam/spring arrangement, rather than leaf springs(* I fully expect to be put right,on the correct "terminology" )

http://www.al-ko.co.uk/section/amc-motorhome-chassis.html

If you are after the spec' of a specific vehicle/model then you'd to check the "weight plate" for axle weights etc...and/or get it looked at by someone who knows their MH "undercarriages"

As it's an older vehicle, the Alko side would need checking out properly anyway, as I believe that they can be expensive to "service" if they have "sagged" or have been neglected(not greased correctly etc)

Pepe63 is correct, the Alko has a swing arm on each side held in place by a large grub screw, between the two arms is a set of leaves which make up a square shape, this goes through the axle and a swing arm is on each end, there is a square welded inside the axle which the leaves go through, there are also bronze bushes at each end which require greasing via the nipples each year. Most common cause of failure is broken leaves. A replacement set is around £1000. There is a shock absorber each side which does not do much but are expensive from Alko, I believe that the Monroe V1077 is a direct replacement and cheaper.
