For those of us who remember them, do you miss them? I loved the smell, sound and the soft light they gave off.. Only draw back was the flimsy mantles.
I wonder if it's feasible to fit them?
i have gas lights in my mini artic trailer . used to get mantles from one of the members on here . but he seems to have disapeared . i now use tie on ones from hongkong . the newer mantles do seem alot stronger. i used to use veritas mantles but they packed up in malta making them .
most of my truck camper mates also use gas lights .
you get light ,heat, and mozzies dont like the smell they give off . mind we cant smell it . i saythey are one of the best bits of kit you can have . great light far nicer than led etc .
i find in a winter abroad even going off roading in the truck use about ten mantles . and we do go off road in morocco and spain .
john if your out there get in touch.
still is , only now have water and 4 wagon batteries supplied with solar . even better parked in the wide open sahara desert and in the morning wash your clothes in 240v twin tub washing machine . pull ice cream from 240v fridge .
its like being in the space ship on lost in space . in the 60,s .so long as you dont need the doctor . ha ha .
