Does anyone have any views on the high fixed rear beds eg Rapido 7063f. It has a garage under the bed area. Just wondering if this layout has any drawbacks and would welcome comments.

YES, very difficult to get in and out and especially for my Mrs, very hard to make the bed, choose one with single beds if possible or a layout that is easy to make a double, we downsized from a hobby because of that.

As with so much else, it depends on what you find most important! We wanted a fixed bed, went for the low transverse one in our Autocruise Starseeker as this was more important than having a monster garage. Others would describe the five feet of air above the bed as a 'waste of space'! You pays your money...

pros- nice size full bed
no cut away corners
garage is a big plus for larger item like chairs, wind breaks etc, keeps the inside of the m/home clear, great for filling up with wine etc!

cons- difficult when having to climb over your partner to get out of the bed!
high of the ground but ours is electric to adjust the height.
difficult to make

best option is 2 singles and a garage

We have a fixed bed, which is actually 2 singles, but which can be converted into a big double. As we do still like sleeping in the same bed, we do have it as a double! Ours is not transverse, but longitudinal, so no climbing over one another.
Cons are of course that it takes a fair bit of living space off the interior, but against that is huge storage space underneath.

There is no best or worst, or right or wrong, at the end of the day it is down to personal preference.

One word of warning: we had a transverse bed in our last MH, which was a Rapido. Above the head of the bed, there were a couple of overhead lockers, which meant that every time you wanted to sit up in bed to read, you banged your head against it, until you remembered eventually! Very bad design, as you couldn't actually sit up straight in bed as they were in the way; so if you go for one, check out there is no lockers directly above!
