We collect our brand new Auto Trail Tracker FB on March 7th. It's our fourth motorhome but our third Auto Trail. We had a look at all the other manufacturers at the Shepton show last September but kept being drawn back to Auto Trail. Here's hoping our new girl will be as good as our last two!

I went to Brownhills and SMC last week and looked at different layouts and models, including coachbuilt and panel vans. I Have decided on a front single bed layout with an end kitchen and I am thinking a coachbuilt is what I want as they seem that bit more spacious. I also kept going back to Autotrail's and Autoslepper's they seem to have better build quality but with this comes higher prices. 😒

hi. I just px my auto trail Dakota. for me the bad points of the van are. dangerous road holding due to cab overhand. anywhere near a HGV on the motorway and you are all over the place. I fitted rear air rides and that did not help. the over hand just picked the front up and steering became hit and miss. the auto trail rear vide camera system is cheap and not very good. the electric charger is poor and will allow power to drain from the engine battery which is very poor. its ok to look at but never again. michael
Hi Micheal,
thanks for your comments. I am looking at lo line motorhomes which I think are better. Personally I dont like the look of the hi line ones. Its a 2 berth I require as opposed to a 4 berth so I can avoid the hi line versions.
Thanks again Twurly

Terry- just wondered, did your 'unstable van' have a wide rear track?
Have had 4 high sided vans including 3 coachbuilts and one high-top Ducato van conversion. All had varying degrees of rear overhang. All could be affected by side winds and passing buses and lorries so care always needed - slow down!
However... The most frightening feature occurs with vans where the rear axle is wider than the front:-
On well-worn motorways the rear wheels will track in the wear-tracks of HGV's especially in the near-side lane.
Very alarming when it first happens and takes a degree of skill and concentration to hold the van in the lane.
And certainly not something that van salesmen will warn you about although all seem to be aware of it if, only if, you happen to mention it!
It is somewhat ironic that the recent development of a 'wider rear track' was seemingly introduced to make a wide van more stable!
