Having just taken ownership of a Bailey Approach 620 SE we find that the kitchen cupboards do not have any dedicated storage for glasses and mugs, what ideas does anyone have to prevent movement, rattling and breakage of these items. Thank you.
You can buy the mug / glasses storage racks and just screw them in. We bought a couple of them from shop attached to the local motorhome dealers - about £5 each from memory - if not try Ebay sure you will get some there.
As Dot' says, there are various types available, either at accessory outlets or online..
..but of the ones we've used over the years, they still tended to involve a degree of "separation packing" (with kitchen towel, tea towels etc)...and some of the things we've tried have been very "size/shape specific" when it came to fitting the actual mug handles and/or the "off-set" of the plates...
I've also never been too keen on screwing anything to the actual cupboards sides themselves either, instead I've tending the line them out, and secure to that (so it doesn't leave a myriad of untidy holes).
We were surprised that there was no dedicated storage for plates of glasses in our 740. I assume that Bailey provide these in caravans? As has been said a local caravan dealer will sell freestanding plate racks. I also put in a spring clip grass holder. Just be careful where you screw anything in, fine into cupboard dividers but not into the walls of the van. We had a cupboard in the bathroom which had no holders in so we purchased some from B&Q you can see them in this Blog just scroll down towards the bottom.
We wrap glasses and cups in the thin rubber matting you can get from Poundland (obviously a pound a roll), Caravan accessory shops (possibly more than a pound) and Motorhome Shows.
It comes in rolls of about 300mm x 1000mm, it's non-slip and we use it to line the bottom of drawers, cupboards and in between glasses, cups, plates and cooking utensils and it stops any damage to items and also stops any rattling of them when driving along.
For few quid for a few rolls to stop any damage and muffle rattles it's a bargain.
Surprised to hear this. Our 20+ year old Autosleeper has dedicated holders - clips for wine glass stems in what we jokingly call the drinks cabinet (has clips for 4 bottles too). And the cupboard has plywood circular cut outs for 4 mugs, and slits for the plates to stand up in - they're held there by a tape with velcro. I hadn't thought to look in new vans, assumed such things were standard, so thanks for the warning!
Friends just bought an A/S and didn't like the dedicated storage especially the way opening the cocktail cabinet door cleared the worksurface so modified it to suit their storage needs! So there you go - we are all different e.g we have had a couple of vans in the past with ovens ... which were only normally used as storage cupboards! Very continental us!😉
Guess A/S success over many years is partly due to keeping features (and fabrics!) that some folks like and not moving with 'fashion' 😇

------------- The older I get the better I used to be.
I'm not keen on dedicated storage for plates/mugs/glasses as there is a lot of wasted space, I use 'gripmat' about £2.00 for a roll of it from most accessory shops, cut it to the size and shapes you want. I store small glasses-wrapped in gripmat inside the mugs! Gripmat between each plate/bowl & mug.
