We are due to go away tomorrow and our fridge won't work on either 240v or 12v, the power button light doesn't come on at all when pressed. Checked fuses feeding fridge.
We have no display showing the problem either. We have 240v electric onto van but doesn't seem to reach fridge.
The fridge is brand new by the way.
Is there a fuse on the fridge itself that could have blown?
Firstly don't panic - it may be something quite simple!
A few basic questions/checks:-
1. If a normal Dometic 3 way fridge it should only run on 12 volts when the engine is running! (Otherwise a flat habitation battery in quick time!) However I believe they also require 12 volts to power the control circuits so ensure your control panel is switched on.
2. Mains: Check the consumer unit - are both trips in the up position? Secondly do all the mains power sockets work?
3. Does the fridge run on gas OK?
4. You say fridge is new - did it work OK when first installed and who installed it?
5. Check the model number - see plate on inside lower back wall of fridge behind the lowest plastic drawer. I then may be able to help further as also have a new Dometic fridge with handbook.
Hope this helps - let me know how you get on.

I'm assuming 3way fridge? If the fridge is new & has just been installed & it is not working then its sounds as if it has not been installed properly. The fridge should run on 12v direct from engine battery when engine is running only. It should work on 240v plugged into ehu & it should work on gas. If it is not doing this then get it sorted by somebody qualified to do it, ie a caravan workshop.
If it has been installed by somebody who did not know what they doing then you at risk both from mains electric & gas.
Thank you both for your help. Seems like we have done
all the things right regarding iggy's notes. Although not checked if runs on gas.
We are off tomorrow (for few days) so have put in freezer blocks for now.
We will get back to you on return.
Oh, by the way, it is a new van but fridge ok when
we bought it, just happened this time!
As billy says best not to go deeper than the operator controls unless qualified! Guess would be best to refer back to the dealer/installer anyway; should still be under warranty?
You could just hope the weather stays cold!

I have the same problem as Jan, albeit with a Thetford fridge, and did all the tests mentioned. Dealer informed me that there is a mother board, and this can fail, and has confirmed this. The part is on order (promised within the next few days)and have been informed they can fit while I wait as its a 5 minute job. Part itself is £124.
In the meantime I too had to go away using a coolbox.
Have you got a leisure battery installed and connected as you need a power source for the fridge light display? Some people think that having just 240 volt mains you don't need an onboard leisure battery but it may not be the case on newer caravans.
We took our Dometic fridge back to the dealer because it wouldn't work on electric. It was a sixty mile round trip. The chappie came out from the service department and fixed it in under a minute. The switch on the socket had accidently been knocked off. Because the socket was low down in a cupboard,we didn't notice it had a separate switch on the socket. We had even changed the fuse in the plug!!!!
Can any one help got a 3 way domestic fridge work with 12 volt and ehu but can’t get it working on gas tryed fuse it clicks when trying to light it but nothing happened it worked before and now nothing don’t no anything about them so don’t want to start pulling it out any help would be appreciated
Probably needs burner cleaning out. Soot builds up. Easy job if you can get to burner. If you cannot access burner by removing lower fridge vent on outside of van then fridge does have to come out.
If the fridge has not been used on gas for sometime then the pipe will be full of air.
Firstly turn on one of your gas rings on the cooker to ensure that gas is reaching there, turn off after it has lit and then try fridge again. Even now it may well take 4/5 attempts at lighting.

As DaveS1 said, they can be reluctant to light or stay alight until air fully purged from gas pipe when unused for a while. As said, run a cooker burner to clear pipes of most air. The fridge alone is a tiny flame, it takes a while to purge air on that alone.
Both my portable fridge and fixed caravan fridge can take multiple attempts and some time to light if not recently used. After they've fired up properly, they will usually relight first time on subsequent attempts, so no other problems with system.
If fitted type in a caravan/camper, most do require the 12v power to be on to power the control circuits and allow it to work on gas, even if the ignition is a independent piezo type which you may hear sparking/clicking.
Swift Escape..... fitted with the Swift Command control panel and the App to control things - i would suspect the APP if you have it set up. I have no knowledge of it personally but have heard it can cause problems with the fridge in their caravans. Can you ring the dealer and get them to talk you through it?? There is a way to disable the App control to the fridge. Sorry I can't be of more help.
electrolux 3 way it’s in my motor home it’s working on 12 volt and eh just the gas u can here it clicking then when I let the knob go it’s as if it’s trying to fire up but then nothing just keeps clicking
