Have recently bought a Bailey Approach 620 SE and on trying to check the tyre pressure before a trip found that our digital charger wasn't reaching the rear tyres so ordered an extension which inhibited the performance of the inflator! Have tried a foot pump which doesn't appear to be strong enough to inflate the tyres! Any recommendations please!

Can you fit crocodile clips and use the domestic battery in the caravan?

Hi Chris
I have a Halfords Digital inflator and also have to use an extension 12v lead which works fine but it is a heavy duty cable about 3m long and I usually use it with the engine running as you get a slightly higher voltage to help.

a small compressor comes to mind, so you can check the pressure on your drive whenever you wish.

I do exactly the same but the incorporated gauge isn't that accurate on my 12v Halfords inflator so I use a professional tyre pressure gauge which has a flexible hose which allows to gain access to the most awkward of places.

It's a Motorhome.

OK

The voltage drop should not be so great if the cable is a big enough cross section.

It may still be better to take the feed straigh of the battery instead of from the cigarette lighter socket......... and run the engine too.

Does that make a big difference? I have the same problem with my rear tyres.

Thank you all for your help. Our motorhome came with 4 different tyre psi readings but now corrected by our son in law who is a mechanic! Just need to sort it out for future trips!!
