Hi all, i am looking for a Iveco Daily to convert into a camper van, now a few friends have mentiond that the insurance can be high for self build/DIY campers, is this true, is it much more generaly than a proffesional conversion.
Well i got to call one and it came back at just under £600, not bad at all and good cover. with Adrian Flux of all places, usually high for my other cars with them.
Hi pepe63, if i can get it that low i will be well chuffed, i will call around more when the time comes, i am selling up now to get a van, cars etc. I will give Shield a go aswell then.
So this ins cover from Shield that covers the van from start to finish, is that so i can drive it or just while being on a driveway? Be good to be able to drive for getting to work and fit it out at weekends etc.
I called Shield about this `drive as you DIY` great price at £349 FC and all good extras. BUT as i have no NCB, (i have always has special policies so you dont collect any NCB, even with my full NCB for 24 years.)
So with me having no NCB i need to have the conversion done and completed in 90 days, if my wife is the named driver/policy holder then i can have 120 days to do it.
Also its good that i valued the van at £2500 and then completed camper at £8000 and the price stays the same.
i think i will just get the van and convert then insure it, time and money will be hard on 90 days to do it.
