The front grill on our motorhome (the part with the badge on it) needs repainting silver. Does anyone know how you remove it and what shade of silver it requires?
I saw an article a while back in the MMM magazine , I'll have a look for it when I get a minute but you might be able to go online and find the article. It showed how to remove, paint and reinstall the front.
Ive always drove Fiat vans. Im assuming they are the same, when you open the bonnet along the top you will see 4 screws in the top of the grill, undo those and it will just lift out. when refitting the bottom of the grill has little pegs on the bottom that need locating in and then just put the screws back in.
When I repainted our grill I cut all the plastic welds and stripped it down into its component parts even the badge can be removed from its surround
I then resprayed it with satin black and five wheel silver it came up like new I'm not sure what the original silver colour was but I just used the same paint that I had used on the wheels
To reassemble I used self tapping screws instead of trying to weld the plastic again
Its a bit of a fiddle to do but much easier than trying to mask off different parts
Thanks for the advice. I did strip it down to its component parts which made painting much easier. Used stainless steel self tappers to re-assemble the unit. Bought Ducato silver paint spray from Halfords and a can of clear laquer to protect it and it looks better than new now.
