Hi,
Just about to leave in the next few days for the Loire Valley. Does anybody have any experience of gadgets that claim to 'boost' the camp wifi signal?
If so, what makes / cost have you found to be worth while?
I am also using the Motorhome Wifi at the moment. It is excellent,We are on a Caravan Club site , paid for WiFi , which is for use by one device , but with MHWifi we can use up to 5 devices and onky pay once.
Also in France, where free wifi is sometimes only available "at the bar or reception" , the MHWifi will pick up the signal from more than 100m away.
In Chartres, in May , lots of people were sitting outside reception with their Laptops/ipads.We got a strong signal on our pitch , and we couldnt even see reception from the pitch.
After a bit more digging around and reading reviews posted by members on here, I think I'm pretty much decided on the Motorhome wifi I boost kit. A bit pricey, but sounds like people are happy with the results. Off to the Stafford show this Friday to purchase.
Thanks to all contributors.
France here we come.
We too have the IBoost and experience same as JSparkes. It has been totally worth the spend, we run a laptop, 2 phones and a Kindle when we are given only 1 code. Plus we took find we can pick up the campsite signals no matter how far away they are.
Add to that if you use BT Fonfree you can usually pick up a Fon signal saving you paying for access in the UK.
Harveyrv, it is a bit pricey, but it is good. We have had ours for two years and it has probably paid for itself in saved wifi fees, especially if you run multiple devices.Like I said in my previous post, it will pull in a signal from quite a distance, and if you have BT at home you can pinch French people's signal too!
Also ,the couple who own the business are brilliant too, when you phone MH Wifi you will probably speak to them personally.
Whichever system is used the signal can be improved a lot by using an external dipole and it will not only improve the range but give a more robust connection.
Bought one at the Stafford show on Friday en-route to Folkestone for the train. Now sat in bed near Le Mans using the iBoost system. Been running 2 iPhones and 2 iPads - all at full signal strength with no problems at all so far. Tried it with the normal campsite wifi signal before switching the iBoost on, but kept losing signal and dropping out.
Just downloading a fairly hefty maps package for co-pilot sat nav - again, with no problem. Looks good up to now - will report on how it behaves over the next 3+ weeks thet we're away.
