Hi chums,
Had a look at a Globecar Campscout today. Loved it. Anyone got any experience of this type of campervan? Looking at Trigano and Autocruise also (but a bit wary of Swift these days)
I drive a Trigano tribute 650, just comeback from a 3.500 miles European trip, you just cannot go wrong with the size and engine, mine will be up for sale soon if interested, loaded with extras, you name it my van has got it.
My wife would prefer one with single beds already made up, although she has the preference in the Trigano of the long bench seat that makes a lovely single, but the main reason is that we really need one with cab aircon, we have had some very hot journeys in Italy/Spain/France she is not very fond of that kind of heat, otherwise the camper is first class, I managed to get 38.4 miles to th e gallon, got photo to prove from the trip computer, and the average so far has been 36.7 to the gallon, not bad ehh!!
That's a really nice van - I had been looking at the Adria Twin too. That one has quite low mileage for a 2008. The Globecar I've seen is an ex-hire (6 months of hire) and a 2015 model. Comes with bike rack, awning, aircon, sat nav, TV and quite a lot of extras. Big investment for us though and it would have to do us for many years to come! Just trying to weigh-up what to do. Oh, for a lottery win lol!
I quite like the Globecar range, particularly how they arrange the showere to give more room. If you go on their German website there is a speeded up film of how they make them, quite fascinating. Our problem is that having had the Bailey which is very roomy is just whether we would cope with something much smaller (narrower)
I get what you mean David. They are much narrower than a motorhome. We have our VW with tiny toilet because I have two chronic digestive problems (basically, my guts hate me lol). So, it doubles as my car and as a brilliant van for days out, exploring etc. but I'm only 4'11" and my hubby is 6'4", also both my girls are much taller than me! It's becoming a problem that nobody but me can stand up in the van and tempers were flaring lately! So, I was looking at something a bit bigger. There's a lovely Globecar at Dicksons of Perth, but they offered me a terrible trade-in price for my VW.....😞😞
I realise you are in Ayrshire, but have you checked out Highland Campervans http://www.highlandcampervans.com/vehicles-for-sale.asp near Inverness. I bought my Bongo from them and they are a great company to deal with.
