Hi all,

Migrating across to this area of the forum from the tent area as we are selling our tent and have bought this piece of American metal!

Question for any of you who have vans with ofset spare tyres - we want to attach a bike carrier without having to install a towbar, so looking at mounting on the spare wheel but obviously need it largely ofset so the bikes dont hang way outside the van width. Anyone done this, got any advice?
Thanks

Hi..

Probably not much help, other than googling images of "spare wheel mounted cycle racks" for ideas?...

could you fabricate a rack so that it held the bikes upright, solely on the N/S(uk) door? and just incorporate an additional number plate/ light board?...

Presumably, there's nowhere underneath that the spare' could be shoehorned?

( OT- I do like the Yanks take on an "Econoline" model  )

We bought a MH in the USA, for a 6 month trip there. That was based on a Ford Econoline with a 7.8 litre petrol engine - - 7 mpg on a good day, and only a 25 gallon tank. We had a great trip though.
