If a sign says "No Overnight Parking" then you can't but would in these days of no plods get away with it. If you pulled in, made a brew, nodded off - fully dressed etc then you could say "I only stopped for a break and will be on my way in a few mins" and make sure you do!! Even if you stop at the next lay-bye! After all the law requires you NOT to drive if you are tired - Tiredness Kills Take a Break!! so that is what you are doing!!! Seempuls si Si!!
Wow what a reaction,
Just go on google earth, select the area where the road runs through, zoom in on the Laybys and select a few that fits the bill, easy
Just stop, park up and sleep. What's the worst that is going to happen? Obviously if it says no overnight camping move on. We used to always stop if we were travelling with the kids overnight.

It's probably been covered on here before..so apologies if so! If your leaving for weekend away late at approx 10pm... Campsite won't allow you on site until following day... So lay-bys?...... .....The lay-bys in question are the ones along the A470 Brecon Beacons (bottom of pen y fan)
Off the "Yes or No" question but what ever the answer, you may not be able to get onto the campsite 'till noon(some, possibly later},so you may end up having to kick your heels anyway...
So, rather than leaving at 10pm (Fri?), unless heading for somewhere like the North of Scotland or you're catching an early ferry, you may as well just set off really early on the actual day...

This week there has been a motorhome parked up in a layby on the A5 by Milton Keynes for 3 days with traffic going by at 70 mph
...Ahhh yes!...the call of the wild..the freedom of the open road...the ability to break with convention...and to explore at will.....

(although, he may have just broken down..? )
Perhaps they prefer the traffic noise to screaming kids, yapping dogs and drunken singing on some campsites.
