Yesterday hubby looked at large Heki skylight in 2005 Autotrail chieftain and noticed a gap at the opening edge between the plastic trim and the ceiling that he had not previously noticed. He took down all the surrounding trim so we are left wih just the external bits. The skylight is held in place by 16 blue plastic brackets which hook around the opening and screw into white plastic lugs moulded into the external section (apologies if my description is a bit lame!) On checking these he found that 10 of these brackets were loose - the white plastic lug has snapped so they are not actually doing anything. Meaning the skylight is only being held in by 6 brackets. We are a bit mystified as to how this has happened i.e. could it have been done when the skylight was fitted or could it have happened throught heat/use?? Has anyone else had a similar problem?? Hubby thinks he has found a way to fix this without needing a new skylight but a bit worried about problem recurring. We have not had any leaks as a result of the problem as the adhesive seems to have kept everything in place. Vehicle has only done 17,000 miles so not overused!

Glad you brought this up sue...i had this problem too.
I now check the heki out(by removing the vent strips )
Before every winter and check tightness of screws.,they seem to loosen up,due maybe to vibration.
I suppose a good idea would be to use adhesive(sikaflex)on the screw threads.
