Sorry, no help on the alternative models front...but some really important(but a bit boring!) things to check for are water ingress/damp!! and it's *usable payload and individual axle weights
*The reason being, if sticking below the gvw 3500kg threshold, many larger "family" type vans have quite poor payload and after a few extras have been bolted on (eg wind-out canopies, bike racks, towbars etc) and then loaded with a family's assortment of clobber, then more often than not they will be overloaded (either overall or by the rear axle exceeding it's limit)
For 15k, I'd be looking to buy private...but unfortunately, both of those together, will limit your choice.
Don't rush into anything, as it may be, that for a family, a caravan is a better- more bang for your buck , costs nowt when sitting unused- option?.... )
