Has anyone used a company to replace their vinyl flooring in the motorhome rather than doing it themselves? We will soon take delivery of a Rapido which has a little raised bit from the cabin to under the dining table and then down a step along the main floor area so it looks tricky to do ourselves. We can take the van anywhere really to have it done as are planning a jaunt to Cornwall in Feb half term and then the north and Scotland at Easter. Any suggestions welcome. At the moment it has a rather tatty carpet which has left the foam backing behind on to the original vinyl.

A friend of mine did a splendid job of fitting a carpet, though there were no changes of level. I'd prefer carpet to vinyl - more cosy, covers bumps better. New vinyl over old vinyl sounds a bit of a bodge.

I used carpet tiles in my self build, fairly easy to lay and cut to shape.

Just had ours done by a local independant carpet shop - was brilliant and only took him an hour. I agree with carpet though - much more snugglier in the cooler weather.

We want vinyl as we have a dog and I think it will be much easier to clean. I thought we could put a mat down on the floor by the bed to make it a bit easier on bare feet! I was also assuming the old vinyl could be taken up - is this not the case? We haven't collected the van yet (2 weeks to go) but will check that I cannot simply clean off the bits of the foam back carpet which are now stuck to the floor.

We have a dog that gets wet & muddy - often. Our home has carpets not vinyl, a vacuum cleaner & the occasional Vax carpet shampoo in the MH keeps its carpets no worse than the ones at home.

We have vinyl in the van and laminate and vinyl at home, with our dog and the kids carpets would not last 2 minutes.
