hi guys. does anyone have a wellhouse conversion on a hyundai i800. do you have a bike rack fitted by wellhouse? i know that they fit a fiamma carry bike rack that was originally for a vw. which model vw, T4 or a T5.
yes i bought a thule backpack carrier, can't remember model number, but was fully adjustable.had to get heavy duty gas struts fitted as door too heavy to open
I met and spoke to another i800 owner who had a Fiamma rack fitted which I believe was for the Mercedes Vito. If I remember from years ago the Wellhouse one is bolted on through the tailgate, holes drilled, rather than clamped round the edges. We looked at it, but in the end decided to actually get the Thule Aerobars and just fit the usual roof mounted cycle racks, mostly because it does not add another 60 plus kg to the back of the car and impact tailgate access, but also because I can also use the roof bars to carry ladders, fence panels, etc. We do look like a Tour de France support vehicle and have to carry a set of steps to get them down, but it does work.
Steve, I don't suppose you remember what other vehicles your brackets fitted do you? Thule website reckons their backpac won B&B fit as they think it has a spoiler.
the backpack is fully adjustable for length up and down the door, the 2 hooks that go under bottom of door have long bolts on them, the 2 top hooks that clip over top of door are again fully adjustable. now removed from the i800 and soon to be on a vw t5.. had to replace gas struts on the door as was very heavy to lift. i fitted 2 struts from SGS engineering, about £70 a pair, easy fit
Hi diesel steve, gabelbe, Keebs or anyone with a Wellhouse i800
I'm in Canberra, Australia and have just bought a new Hyundai van equivalent to the i800 over there. I'm getting it fitted out as a camper by a small local company. We've ordered the roof from Germany and will use other European products like in the Wellhouse conversion that are available here. But we're having trouble locating the 44 litre water tank that fits underneath the vehicle (and Wellhouse not much help). I'd be extremely grateful if you could have a look at your water tank (located just in front of the petrol tank) to see if it has any Brandname or serial number or model number on it.
Huge thanks.
Hi Lindy, could you get one made up to your own dimensions, i know there are companies in the Uk that can make water tanks to specific dimensions, i can't imagine that you cant get one made up in Aussie Land -
PS as everything in Aussie Land is upside down, will you put the underslung tank on the roof --- (asking for a friend LOL)
Or just do what caravan folks do, pump water in from a hog that you carry empty & fill at the site. A friend toured Spain for months in an old VW camper & used a big (food grade plastic) canister for his water.
Ha ha MisterB1959! Yep, the tank will be on the roof and the pop-down roof underneath.
We could probably get a tank made here but we don't know of a reputable company. Do you know of a good one in the UK that can make them to specific dimensions? Obviously, the easiest and best way would be to get the same one that Wellhouse put on their i800.
Thanks for your suggestion FionaW. I used to improvise during my travels but now I'm getting a bit long in the tooth and need things to be a bit easier. Also, I came into a bit of money, so I can pay for a bit of luxury now.
