I've been looking at these , with a view to buying one , probably a t reg ish one , going by the prices , the length is ideal , I like the look of them , they have everything that I'm looking for , and a bonus , I assumed was the German build and vw reliability .
However in another thread on here , the writer , who owns one with the t4 engine , said it was very difficult to get spares for the t4 , is this the case ? I had also assumed that with the t4 being such a popular engine , parts would be easy to get hold of , I appreciate that it is now quite old , have the parts been deleted already , I would hate to be offered Chinese made parts instead . Thanks in anticipation .

Generally speaking once a vehicle has been discontinued for 10yrs main dealers will begin to delete parts so OE part availability reduces after that.

Obviously older VWs have more of a following that some other makes so after market part availability is greater but quality can suffer which is why OEM/NOS parts for older VWs are sought after.

Parts for long obsolete but still popular vehicles tend to be made in batches so availability can be sporadic. If you get the T4 I would suggest you seek out the T4 forums & start posting on them & get involved. That way you should have access to parts that the general trade(ie your local garage)can't be bothered to seek out.

Plenty of 90s T4 campers still about so generally speaking you should be ok but there is always a risk that you could be off the road if a part you needs is unobtainable.

These people have a good choice of parts or try asking on the T4 & T5 forum.

We have an Autosleeper on a T4. The motorhome end is perfect for us, just perfect. Sure, can be a bit hard to find parts for the engine end, but we've managed so far thanks to the Internet & a good Independent garage.

Thanks everyone for your responses , I imagined that it would be not too hard a job to get bits for such a well used motor , all it needs now is to find the right one .
