So I have this new motorhome of mine (well, 20 years old new...but you get my drift).
So. Main reason for purchase is, amongst other things, so that I can go play drums in my band, have a few drinks, and crash over where I would have originally had to tea total for the drive home or book a hotel.
Can anyone give me broad advice on parking? This weekend for example I am playing at a bistro bar in a residential area of Rawtenstall. Am I legally able to just park the bus up on one of the nearby streets and crash overnight or are there laws against that?
Same next week...but in Sheffield City centre. There is "on street parking out front of the venue" I am told. So can I throw my gear in the bus then crash out with a bottle or two?
Just looking for general advice please. Thank you in advance.
Sounds like it's too old to be an autonomous automobile, but "magic" or not you might still be suspected of being "drunk in charge of a carriage in a public place" or whatever the exact wording is.
If you're keys are in the ignition and/or you're sitting in the drivers seat and have your keys on you - yes you could be considered in charge. If the keys are in the glove box, fridge or wherever and you are in the back...then you aren't in charge.

What makes you think that you will be under the limit next morning when you want to drive away, just a thought
I don't drink stupidly (don't even consume any until after we've played...alcohol and music don't mix well...so usually it's at least 9.30pm ish before I can have a drink anyway).
And I drive in Europe now and again so I have a European drive kit which includes two breathalysers. I've never used one but I would if I was in any realistic doubt. Unlikely to ever happen.
look into vandwelling and stealth camping websites, mostly american.
Camping in a vehicle is a bit of a minefield legally. However if nobody knows you are there....
Best solution would be to use the private car park of whatever venue you are playing at. They don't all have car parks I know but as a rule of thumb. I would avoid town centre or city centre parking, unless you know you are under a camera, good street lighting etc.
