We will be changing from a caravan to a Motorhome next year as we want to do more touring in UK and Europe moving on after a few nights at each location.
I am aware that you can't now use A frames outside the UK bu we are just about to start looking for a second (new) small car that can double as a day to day runaround car, but also on occasions tow behind our future Motorhome.
We are looking at Motorhomes and like the Swift Bolero or possibly the Kon tiki tag axle?
Can anyone suggest any makes and models of small cars that could be towed behind a Motorhome? We are looking if possible for a small four door car that must have aircon option.

I think these are the smallest lightest ones around. Not sure on the legals though. They claim you can drive them on a moped licence.

Yeah seen them in France and Spain, they sound like 2 stroke diesel engines and have a top speed of about 40mph.
We've got a VW UP! Don't tow it but brilliant lightweight car, with A/C, and 4 doors (if you must). Low insurance, 60mpg, 1000cc petrol, £20 road tax and pre-registered was only 7.5k to buy!

Hi ya Dave.Tow a Nissan Micra behind our Kotiki,2nd Micra,on an a frame and you wouldn't know it's there.Recently been to France for three weeks and the police never gave us a second glance.Not to say after the Brexit vote they might tighten up.Micra a lovely little car with a/c as standard I think.Returns 40 plus per gallon and very nippy.Good size boot and four doors.Preloved models reasonable priced.Braked a frame fitted for £950.Happy motorhoming.

I have a new shape fiat panda. I take it in the UK if we are staying in one place for more than a few days. Got the a frame fitted for £900 from towing a frames in Chesterfield, can't recommend them enough. I wouldn't use mine abroad because we never really stay in one place for too long however it's handy in the UK. The panda is great fun to drive and amazingly spacious, me at 6ft and the three kids fit fine and even the labrador fits in the boot. I have the lounge model. It's great on fuel, has alloys, air-conditioning and looks quite funky compared to the basic model, I paid £5000 for a three year old one with 20k on the clock, but that was for a main dealer, I didn't like the older square shape one but the new shape is much nicer,
I do have another car but find even at home the panda is great to nip around town in as it uses so little fuel and is a doddle to park. Tax is £30 a year and insurance is cheap.
A few people have asked why I need a car and don't just tow a caravan however we regularly just have a night away spare of the moment or do tours where we don't need to take the car but it's great to have the option. I tried the public transport thing but with little kids and dogs it was not practical,

I think you're still in caravan mode. Forget the car, go out in the motorhome each day and return to where you spent the previous night, or not, as the fancy takes you. Using the aires in France and their equivalents across Europe, you can be on a different one every night if you wish. Most are free (or just a few euros) and are not bookable so you have the freedom to stop for the night wherever you happen to end up. Whatever you decide to do, have a great time.

That's right Marilyn. We, as former caravaners and now motorhomers see it as going from a car towing a caravan to a caravan towing a car. Why bother?. Where you can't get to in the motorhome you can use public transport which is great fun, or bikes. We have found too that motorhomers towing cars, with the increased train length, have to park the thing, in aires, in the adjacent bay, eliminating it's use for other motorhomers. Great when you arrive late and that's the only bay left !

Be aware that the Kontiki tag axle have a limited towing capacity something to consider if you were to also tow a trailer
