I maintain it's because the van is parked on our sloping drive and therefore not level, but Mr Fran says the motor should still try and work and that he should be able to hear something when he tries to run it from the hookup.
It's an Electrolux RM212, in case that's relevant.
It does not work like a domestic fridge so you won't hear it working. Plug in to the mains and switch the fridge on, if you check the temperature with a fridge thermometer you'll notice a temperature drop fairly soon.
There will probably be some vents outside where the fridge is. After a while you should be able to feel some slight warmth from the top one. This is a good indication it is working.
Of course you do need to set the switches to the correct setting for the source you are using (12 volt battery, 240volt mains, gas) . Remember it won't work on battery unless the engine is running. So try on EHU 240volt mains and/or gas.
Fran, on our travels in our motorhome we have found the fridge will not work, at all, on a slope over a certain gradient. On gas you can hear the clicking of the ignition, if it's continuos without igniting then your gradient is to steep, and will not work on electric either. Hope you get it sorted

This is an absorption fridge, it works by heating a liquid usually ammonia which then changes state causing a cooling effect, it must be level or it will never work.
If you try it on Mains and its getting warm around the chimney vent area it should work, if not take it out and turn it upside down over night, after 12 hours or so put it back and it should work.
If its not getting warm on the mains then its an electrical or heater fault, try it on gas next
Fran , we've travelled 30,000 miles in our motorhome all over europe for several years, just try the gas test like I said for a quick and easy trouble shoot. If it doesn't ignite then it won't work on any of the 3 power sources.
Then try a test on level ground, which, if it's not working means there's a more complicated problem. When our fridge hasn't worked on our travels it's always the gradient which has affected it, so we just level up a bit.
