Sorry I've not posted much for a little while, but I've been rather poorly

However, I just had to come on line to let those of you who have been following the saga of our hassles over parking a motorhome on our drive way know, that we have today (my birthday), picked up our new Motorhome, and it is now sitting proudly on our driveway.  It was about 8.30pm by the time we arrived home with it, so as yet, I don't think the neighbours have seen it.  However - come tomorrow I don't think they will be able to miss it .  Now we just have to sit and wait, to see if they are going to complain.

Can't wait to start putting all our bits and pieces in it and load it up ready for our first trip, which will probably just be a day trip on Bank Holiday Monday with the kids.

Many thanks to all of you who have listened to our troubles and given words of support and advice.  We are proud to finally be amongst the 'official' ranks of Motorhome Owners and like minded people, whichever method of enjoying the great outdoors they choose.  Can't wait to meet up with some of you.

Sara & Dave

Yes folks..Sara and I are most definately off that verge just outside purchase, and now squarely residing in coachbuilt city. All we need now is to get a hookup cable (both the dealer and I  forgot about it)  and we are ready to race, or maybe just trundle at a leisurely pace.

The van still has to have an awning light and the reversing camera fitted, but the dealer is sending his auto electrician out to do both those jobs in the week. I can't wait to get a campfire started now..Sara, pass the marshmallows babe!

Probably something along the lines of "What the.....  "

I'd love to be a fly on the wall (makes plan to ear wig out of the bedroom window first thing in the morning).

Great News Sara which one did you decide on in the end?

Tracy was asking how you were getting on when I saw her the other night.

What a wonderful birthday present!

Thanks Jan

We've settled for the Lunar Newstar 58E which is a pretty traditional 5 berth.  Quite roomy considering it's under 20ft.  When I was following Hubby home in convoy tonight, I kept thinking to myself how small it looked, yet parked up on the drive it actually looks quite big.  We need to cut a branch off the neighbours tree as soon as possible, otherwise it's going to scrape along the side of our motorhome.  I just hope they don't get ratty about it.  Will try and do it when she's down the school so she doesn't notice.

Say hi to Tracey for me please

Can't wait to load it with all our bits and bobs, and then go off on our first journey.  We might actually go off for a day trip on Saturday to Towsure in Southampton (as good a place as any) and then park up somewhere for our first cuppa in our new van.

Wishing you a Happy Birthday & lots of outings to lovely places in your new "home from home"

Congratulations & well done Sara, you certainly deserve it after all you've been through this last few months.

When you get the chance, post some piccies into your gallery so we can all have a look at your new pride 'n' joy.

Best wishes

Phil

Thanks Phil.  I'll have to have a look and see how to do that.  We had a trip down to Towsure at Southampton in our new motorhome today.  Then we went and parked up on the seafront on Hayling Island for a few hours and had a rest and a nice cuppa.  We both sat there grinning at each other, recalling all the times we'd sat there in our car saying "can't wait until we can do this in our motorhome".  Now it's all real

Hubby was in his element waving to every motorhome he saw too

It's great to be 'one of the crowd' at last.

Sara

Congratulations Sara and Dave.  It’s good to hear you’ve got your motor home after overcoming all the hassles.

I think you’ll find the law is on your side regarding overhanging branches.  I can’t imagine a neighbour getting upset about some judicious pruning.

Here’s hoping all goes well for you now.

Happy holidays

Congratulations - and belated happy birthday!  Hope you have loads of fun in the van. The world's your oyster now!!

Regarding the trees, you can cut down what overhangs into your garden but I think you're supposed to give it back to the owner!   I've always thought that could cause more trouble than cutting it off in the first place!

I was amazed at what you had written regarding permission to park your van. We lived opposite the most disgusting rubbish tip of a house and garden for years and nobody would do anything about it despite half the road getting together and complaining to the council, the police, our MP. The man next door even offered £1,000 to the owner to clear it so he could sell his house because it was putting people off and the chap refused. A motor home is nothing compared to that - hardly an eyesore is it? Hope you don't have any probs.

Nora

Congratulations Sara - that is brilliant news and welcome to the wonderful fun filled world of motorhoming. I hope you have many hours of enjoyment from your new hobby and if you are like us you will wish you had done it years ago.

All the best and I hope someday we might bump into you during your travels.

Take care and I hope your first trip is all you hoped for and more.
