Hi and back again for advice again please, my last post was for info re awnings, now thinking about wind out awning, there is nothing on the van so would be looking at getting the complete set up.
Ive googled it but thought why not ask the experienced people on here.

Can't help you with dealers etc., but you might consider...
1. The relatively high cost, especially if you add a 'safari room'.
2. You can't just drive away as you would do with an awning.

I have a Fiamma awning, which was fitted when I got the van. I haven't used it much, but it does provide a nice sitting area in good weather.

Two drifters off to see the world.

I'm tired of reality, so I'm off to look for a good fantasy.

it depends at how old is the van, some ducatos, had pegs fitted on the roof for the purpose of fitting luggage racks or ladders as used by many companies, check your roof at both side and if you see what looks like threaded bolts coming out . then the answer is yes, you can fit the awning on those bolts, obviously you have to buy the awning to fit your specific van, hope this helps

If all you are looking for is a wind out awning to sit under then a Fiamma awning is great (though we prefer Omnistor awnings). They are quite unstable in wind etc though and we always wind ours in if the weather is bad.

Different vans need different fittings, as can be seen   here.

We had an awning fitted to our first T4 at a motorhome show by a firm called Rose Awnings. They visit most shows but also will also fit at their base in Poole.

We had a second fitted on our Fiat Ducato by a campervan converter in Devon (so they would probably be too far for you) but most motorhome dealers/repair shops or campervan convertors will fit one for you (for a price).

Most people I know don't use the awning because of the damage that can be done to the van if the wind catches it. We have a pop up gazebo so we can ofsite and just leave the gazebo there

I fitted a Fiamma F65 to my then Peugeot boxer self build, pretty easy to install.

If I remember right you have brackets which slot on to the roof rack T posts and then they are stuck on with sikaflex adhesive.
The awning slots on to the brackets and locked on with a couple of stopper plates.

We found it to be ok but never used it in high winds.

We use our Fiamma virtually all the time, and wouldn`t be without one. For a lot more stability we bought the optional centre rafter which does make a big difference for a small amount of money, and also use Fiamma`s own tie-down kit.

Tie down kit essential in my mind, for any roll out awning. I KNOW of so may people who have gone out and not actually rolled back in that 'sun shade'. The most damage done to a KonTiki I know of is just over 2 grand! Would not even leave ours out overnight. Yes we do have a good tie down kit....but not worth an unsettled sleep to leave out over night. I like the sun shade though, that is why we bought one. Look after your roll out n it will do what you ask of it.
