Can anyone tell me if they have had trouble with an Elddis Autoquest 175. I am going to court over one with the retailer. Gearbox/clutch failure. Step failure 3, yes 3 times. Flyscreen falling off. Gas regulator packing up. Window screens not locking. AND THERE'S MORE....and more!
Guess what only just got to 11,000 miles and it is still just under 3 years' old!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
PLEASE COME UP WITH THE GOODS, SOMEBODY

Hi, we have just purchased the majestic 185 which is very similar, what other problems have you had?
Nothing fell off yet apart from a chrome plastic trim on the overhead locker

Thanks for your interest. well, just about ALL the floor has delaminated as well as all I have mentioned. The water supply to the bathroom sink faltered-blocked by rubbish flushed through; construction material (glue) was the problem. The toilet Thetford failed; this was due to the flushing switch coming away from the printed circuit board (bad design).
Keep in touch, I shall continue my deliberations on the site.

That sounds like the van from hell. Our Elddis Accordo has had numerous niggling faults and appliance faults over 2 years (new whale water heater and now fridge) but nothing too terminal. You have to be good at DIY nowadays to finish off building the new vans yourself.

You got it right 'HELL', and that is what the retailer and Elddis will be getting a share of. Thanks for interest. Keep a lookout I shall report as time goes by.

Is your unit built like the 'solid' construction that elddis use and is backed by their 10 year water ingress guarantee?
Any ide what caused the whole floor to delaminate, it's protected underneath by a grp floor covering?

You might think that that was sufficient to retain waterproof integrity. It may be but that has not stopped the delamination of layers. By the way 2 1/2 weeks' on and Elddis have not replied to my URGENT email!! Fantastic.

Spitfire.

If you haven't already done so, as well as using email(which can get overlooked, not passed on? etc)I would recommend putting everything in writing(all faults, timeline, all rework to date, dates of all phone calls etc) and I'd be directing it to a named, senior management member, via recorded delivery.

Presumably you have already sort advice from the likes CAB and Trading Standards, to see where you stand?

We had a 2007 Compass Avantgarde(at 2 years old?)and at that time we found Explorer Group, and the appointed dealer(s) in our area, shambolic..
(Countless unreturned calls and loads of..."sorry he's not at his desk...we don't seem to have a record of your case...sorry we ordered the wrong part.." type stuff).

We had the van assessed for rework at the selling dealership's workshop, only to call in several weeks later to find it all closed down!.
So we had to start the whole process again at another "appointed" dealer.

None of the faults were as major as yours sound(having said that the outer panels were corroding in places, so "major" enough for a 2 year old van!)but we never did get it sorted to my satisfaction.
(..and they didn't even attempt to get around to sorting some of the "faults"..to be honest it think they were just beyond the workshops' capability).

So good luck with it all.
(but don't let it consume your life ).

Hi Spitfire,
Firstly let me say I hope you can get this sorted with as little stress to you as possible, although by the sound of it you have had enough already.
I have a Majestic 155 roughly the same age as yours.
I was wondering ,if the floor has delaminated so badly has it not been picked up in either servicing or habitation checks?.Or is it a case you have been living with it while trying to get it repaired?.We all know components can fail but the floor is a major issue for Eldiss.
As Pepe wisely said ,send a recorded letter to the Chairman ,with photos if possible. After all it is damaging his companies reputation.
I do wish you luck with this.
Best wishes,
Greg

I find that in this day and age you can pay £30k upwards for an inferior product, it is a sad reflection of todays work standards and none of the firms involved in the making of a motorhome seem to care enough to up there game.I would have thought that it would be more profitable
to build it right rather than paying out for repairs due to faulty workmanship or shoddy materials.

I had a 2005 Swift van that I had to get rid of when I found out how extensive the floor damp was, the repairer we were using said it was a design fault with that age swifts that allowed water to stay trapped in the outside panels that cover the edges of the floor and they invariably get damp and rot! He also said avoid a couple of makes because they seem to get early damp in them (mainly the lower price British built ones!)
