Does anyone know what is the best product to remove the sap from my camper's roof, it is not a coach built but a van conversion therefore the roof is metal and the roof vents are Perspex and full of the stuff, I know I have used white spirit before for tar spots around the wheel arches and got good results, but this time I want to make sure I use a proper product if one exists, just made a mistake in Benidorm of parking under a pine tree and the campers roof was full of bird poo as well, managed to wash that off no problem.

Hi,
My friend has the same problem where he has to park his car.
He was recommended to use Turtle wax insect and tar remover.
Seems to work for him.

I would try proper turpentine. You can still buy it.
Turpentine is the volatile oil distilled from pine resin, which itself is obtained by tapping trees of the genus Pinus.
This should be ideal to dissolve rosin, the pine residue.

I would use a specific car/van cleaner for your roof. Not a product that is not for cars anyway. Hope you are good on a ladder...take care.

As open sauce says leave it , if its bugging you though use tfr cleaner should be available through euro car parts etc, it comes in different strength's don't get one too strong

Try one of the waterless wash products. I've used the Williams one (off a shopping channel), but I saw a similar product in the Range.

thanks one and all for all the suggestions, the hardest part has been accomplished. its all off now, pure hard work and loads of white spirit has done the job, today I managed to wax all the affected areas and it looks great. thanks again.

We used petrol on car bodywork to remove resin. Worked a treat.
