I have a six berth over top bed type motorhome . I was wondering what is better when storing a motorhome for the winter when high winds are forecast. Steadys down or steadys up ???

Hi,
When I had a 6 berth always had the steadies down in high winds.
Leave a note on the steering wheel to remind you they are down to avoid driving off and doing damage.
Regards,
Greg

I would also face into the wind if you could.

I suppose ive been a bit vague in the original question but theres no real advice anywhere online for my situation.
I have the motorhome stored adjacent to my house and its positioned side on to the prevailing wind, no avoiding it. Hence my question steadys down or steadys up which is the best condition to leave the van in which offers the least wind resistance ??

Hi,
Other things to look out for, will your bin hit the van if it takes off?,is there anything around that could fly and do damage?.A quick check of the area you can avoid a lot of damage.
Have you an external thermal windscreen cover, might be worth putting extra ties on it ,or if you are worried take it off.
The steadies down will definitely assist.
I notice your location and hope the predicted gales do not damage your van.
Regards,
Greg

Good point Greg. My last van got a cracked side window when it was hit by some debris. I think this is probably the biggest risk. If the wind is strong enough to blow a parked van over, you're in real trouble.

However, I don't believe in laying up vans for the winter. Even if I'm not camping, I like to give them a good run every week or so.
