Hi, we hope again this year to do some more 'off grid' camping, so no hook up.
We've recently bought an Gtech eBike for my wife & I'm wondering how to charge the battery for it when we're just running off the 12v leisure battery & small solar panel.
Battery has this info on it:-
Do I need an inverter, or I've read somewhere about iChargers............... about which I have no idea.
Any thoughts welcome.
Happy camping to all in 2017.
Steve.
Connect an inverter to the leisure battery to convert 12v to 230v, plug the charger in to the inverter and you will be able to charge the bike battery pack. This is the simple way to do it but it is very inefficient and there is probably a more expensive and more efficient way to do it but it depends on how much off grid camping you intend to do and how often you need to charge the bike.
We used this method for charging mobility scooter batteries in our motorhome, the leisure battery was quite small and would go flat very quickly but as we had a 100w panel it soon recharged enough in summer to get us through the next evening. You may need a bigger solar panel and/or a second leisure battery to avoid flattening the leisure battery in your van to such an extent that the pump, lights etc will not work.
