I tow with an Armitage A frame, they are based at Ferrybridge right next to the cooling towers, will cost you about £900 takes them half a day to fit. The unit is very heavy so take this into account also i recommend having the jockey wheel fitted

Before anyone one jumps up about the legalities ect i've towed for over ten years with no problems either with vosa or the boys in blue

I can never understand this.
Why don't you just get a caravan?

Each to his own but I don't really get the idea of a large camper towing a small car, taking into account all the running costs wouldn't it be better to have a large car and tow a caravan

I must admit, that is the option I would go for. Much easier to reverse a car and caravan than a motorhome towing a small trailer. I have a small trailer and it is a pig to reverse, partly because I can't see it behind the car, and partly because it is so short. A motorhome towing a small car would have the same problems.

However, I presume the O.P. already has the motorhome and does not want to sell it.

Colin

If its not a auto car, have you thought about an Aframe to tow the car.

Take a look at this site, with fitting instuctions, gives you a idea.

I don't think it would make any difference if its an auto provided the car is a front wheel drive so don't rotate while towing I may be wrong though

Lol. No, O.P. stands for original poster! Its me that's the old person. I did get the impression that you already had the motorhome, and would not want to get rid of it. I've never used a reversing camera, which I am sure would be a massive help. However, short trailers are much more difficult to reverse than longer ones, as they have a tendency to jack-knife very quickly. I am an ex-coach driver and have a licence for buses and coaches with trailers. Give me a short towing-vehicle with a long trailer anytime, as the opposite are a nightmare.

Colin

Why don't you just get a caravan?

For years I towed a caravan but I also have a Caterham 7 and I decided that I wanted to take it on holiday as our fun runabout.

There is no way you would tow anything with the 7 so I now tow that behind a motorhome on a trailer.

I have no problem reversing with the trailer.
