I use a rear seat protector all the time in my car (not this make). I have a small dog and without the protector the seats would no doubt be a mess. I rarely carry passengers so it is no problem leaving it there but if you carry passengers regularly it might be a bit of a nuisance having to keep taking it off and putting it back again although they are easy enough to fit. They usually have slits so that dog harnesses can be fitted to seat belt clips and it looks as if these do as well.

I leave it in when camping and don't bother folding the seat down. It protects the seats from damage by such things as camping chairs and other equipment. Not sure I like the RRP of this one but they seem to be a lot cheaper on the website. I wouldn't be without mine now.

Protectors are fine as you can still fasten your dog into the seatbelt but I wouldn't use the hammock. You have a crash and that unsecured dog is going to fly through the windscreen probably killing it and also injuring any passengers in its path. I'm lucky as I have a van so mine travel in secure crates but if I have to go in someone else's car they get fastened in with a harness and seatbelt clip.

Both the protector and the hammock have holes to access the seatbelt, so your dog will be fastened in securely should you wish. You can see these in the photo of the hammock above. (obv these particular images are staged for the photos so the dog isn't in a harness, but of course usually would be when used in anger)

We have ha din our car for several or more years as it has been transferred across at least 4 cars over the years. Still going strong!
