Hello, I am MH owner just yet, but the money is burning a hole in my pocket and having just eliminated a total move to Spain its the only real option.

I am seeking some advice on weight for carriage of bikes, we have four and as I understand it the thule only allows up to 60kg total weight, which means my options are to buy new lighter or folders for the kids. I am considering these options if I go down the route of Bailey 75-4 or Elddis Encore, I have already planned to reduce weight of bikes by taking batteries off our two electric bikes and seat posts off them all, which ultimately reduces theft opportunities.   If we buy the Benimar mileo, this problem is eliminated because of the garage! and only two bikes will at any one time be mounted. So not to eliminate the Bailey and Elddis options based on bikes alone, advice is sought from seasoned MH owners.

I assume some of you have been in this position at some stage, would you reduce weight further by buying to kids bikes which are folding and lightweight or would you consider only carrying three outside and one in the Bailey or Elddis and how would you personal do it.   I have considered opening the fixed French beds and placing one folder on top of the chairs and others bits whilst using a strap to lower the bed down onto the packaged bike to safeguard the gas pistons and make it secure as possible. I am sure this will cause some problems with warranty (well if they are told) or reduce the life of the pistons in any event. So any practical advice on this would be welcomed. I will assume that some would say the bed not designed to be raised and left raised whilst travelling and all weight should be as low as possible when moving, I would agree that this is the obvious option!

if you have any advice on lightweight bikes for me to consider? if you have alternative ideas for carriage? I have not carried bikes in our caravan and only in the car and roof rack.

if any owners of either mentioned MH have advice also to help sway me either way it will be helpful.

We had a rack specially made for our 100kg scooter. Have a word with Watling Engineers at St. Albans. I'm sure they can rustle something up.

I have now solved the problem and bought a Benimar so the cycle issue has been eliminated
