Hi All
Anyone on here used the Kampa limpet system.
I am thinking of purchasing one, with the hole punch to use to attach a simple canopy to our van for quick one night stops. to provide a sun/rain shelter. Anyone know of anything similar?
I already have canopy poles and tent fabric so was thinking row of these at awning rail hight (as we don't have a rail) and two poles tensioned with guy ropes at other side should do the trick. They would be suctioned to our fibre glass roof which is smooth.
Then I was thinking I could also add holes to my driveway and use them to make it less draughty down the sides on longer stops as when using throw over guy line its not always the best fit.
Just wondered if anyone had any experience of this.
I am thinking the holes would need reenforcement as I am pretty sure they would tear.

Hi, never used them, and have searched for something similar but more ROBUST. Have not found anything as yet! The reason being I/we would like to fill that gap between awning tunnel and van side. BUT I AIN'T SEEN NOTHING YET. Then again, maybe something stronger would probably pull the van side off if the wind was strong and the fixers were also. I may just go with the ones that are not so robust. Seems I just talked myself into Limpets!

Austins. I think you've been having the same thoughts as us. As the say great minds. This is only option I've seen. I did once try small dint pullers but couldn't quite get the hand of them, never seemed to hols well. Maybe that was the set i got as they were cheep.

We have tried poles driven into the ground and the 'tunnel' sides at both ends/corners along side of van with fabric rolled around the pole. Also the tunnel end next to the van pegged right under the van. Nothing we have seen in 16 years and 3 awnings later has proven to give a good gap filler. Our best effort at the solution this far is to close off the actual living area of the awning on one side next to van. Other than that....leave it free standing next to the side of the van, and use it as a TENT. I know that Kampa do sell Air Beams separate from their awnings, but have not checked how they would work IF they were to be used with any other brand of awning. Good luck with any solution you find, and if you are successful let everyone on here know about it please. We all seem to ask this same question. Happy Camping Enjoy.

We bought a new air awning at the NEC this year and also some limpets for the sides. The awning has got holes already so that was no problem. The do work but no good for very windy conditions as at 3 am there was a bang and I got up and checked and they had come free. Also if you overtighten them they snap. Good idea in calm conditions. What they are good for is holding up the wheel arch cover.

I fitted limpets to my new Elddis caravan and tightened them just enough for them to hold but they all fell off by morning so I tightened them a bit more and hey presto they stayed on for 4 days untill departure - quite impressed . untill I noticed white rings where they had
been and on closer inspection they had compressed the alloy body enough to be noticeable . These limpets had not been overtightened just enough to keep them on so I would not recommend them at all I am really gutted my £25000 caravan bodywork has been damaged .Perhaps Elddis bodywork is thinner than others but please don't risk it i!!!
