Hi just got a fiat ducato ,it come with no spare wheel, can any one point me to a good Supplier where I can order one from ,just a steel rim ,tyre size on van is 225/75/16' got alleys on Now but would like a spare ,got one of those blowup kitsI don't fancy driving to Croatia without a spare wheel thanks for your help ,👍🏿
For our cars we have ordered tyres on line. We then have them fitted at a local tyre fitting place.SO, May I suggest that you first look for a tyre company that would fit a tyre not supplied by them and then order your tyre.
Another idea would to be just carry the spare tyre, if you have breakdown insurance, the company you are with would most probably fit a tyre for you should the event you fear happen.I know that you say you have alloy wheels, but if you get a steel one and put a tyre of the size required on, I am unsure that it would be the best way to go. It could be that a handling problem would be encountered.
If your van is older go to a breakers as suggested to get correct Ducato steel wheel. If van is new order a steel wheel from main dealers. You may need a set of different wheelnuts for a steel wheel as well.
If secondhand wheel has tyre on probably a good idea to replace it if over 5yrs old. Check date on tyre. After DOT mark 4 figures, second 2 are year of tyre. If new wheel it would probably be cheaper to get just rim from main dealer & get tyre fitted at tyre depot after shopping around for best price.
Budget or mid range tyre will do for spare rather than paying top price for premium I would have thought? You need a jack as well.
I assume that the van came with alloys fitted, otherwise you would still have the original wheels. Croatia - I wouldn't even go to the shops without a spare wheel.
Has it got a spare wheel carrier or a wheel hoist. If the latter, make sure you have the correct tool to operate it.
If you do need a jack, I'd recommend a small hydraulic trolley jack. A bit heavy, but a lot easier to use.
(on one of my Ducato based vans, the jack broke while the van was under warranty. I had an argument with the Fiat dealer who insisted that it was supplied as part of the conversion - in spite of being stamped FIAT)
------------- Two drifters off to see the world.
I'm tired of reality, so I'm off to look for a good fantasy.

Our previous MH had alloys and the steel spare had different length wheel bolts and a spacer because of the different width and shape of the rims
