Humm, how deep is your pocket and how far do your DIY, skills go??? As above go and have a GOOD look at it and take a damp tester with you , you can buy them from the likes of B&Q, if it has not been moved for while then expect some other problems ie, a sticky clutch, brakes binding due to rust, tyres may have swollen on one side due to being parked for so long, sorry for being sort of a doom and gloom , but that is what I always looked for when restoring VW cars and campers, some of them were untouchable and some yes, with time and effort could be restored to a very good finish, good luck and let the forum know how you get on.
