Could anyone suggest good dealerships in the north of England/Midlands to look for motorhomes with automatic transmission, please? It's for a friend of mine - she's just started looking and we've been surprised at how few automatics are around. Her budget is under £20k and she doesn't want a fixed bed.

Choice will be limited, largely due to budget, so you may need to be prepared to search further away.
I would only go for a torque converter auto, not an automated manual and before going anywhere have a full auto box service including fluid change.
Thanks Davey - could you just run that through a Technical to Clueless translation service for me 😂😂 What's the difference between a torque converter auto and an automated manual one, how would she be able to tell the difference (and what's the difference between one of those and a semi automatic gearbox?)?!
I imagine Davey is referring to a semi-automatic box. This, I believe, dispenses with having to operate a clutch to change gears, but is otherwise similar to a manual box. The torque converter ones are what most people associate with automatic vehicles. You stick it in 'Drive', press the accelerator and off you go. It changes gear automatically.
It doesn't surprize me that most vans are manual. They are based on commercial vehicles where cost, economy, and lower maintenance are of greater importance.
I don't know where you are in W. Yorkshire, but searching Autotrader within 100 miles of York yielded 33 results - mainly campervans.
