Hello,

I have a very basic water set up in my VW T4 consisting of an underslung tank, with a Whale inline pump between it, and my microswitched Comet Novo tap. The microswitch turns the pump on and off.

Recently, after using the tap, about 10-15 seconds later there is an air gurgling noise - I checked and I can feel that air is being *sucked* in to the tap. This stops after a few seconds but it means that the water in the pipe leading to my tap must have dropped as when I turn the tap on again, I now get a second or two pause before water comes out of the tap. Previously this would have been instantaneous.

I've tried emptying the system and refilling but its still the same. I'm wondering what the most likely explanation for this change in behaviour could be?

At the end of the day I'm not unduly concerned as its all still working but any insight appreciated.

Thanks!

Non return valve faulty or small pipe leak maybe.

Thanks for the reply. I don't seem to have a non return valve fitted or at least I can't see one between the whale pump and my tap.

I have had a good look around for leaks but have so far not found any.

Could it be the seal inside the tap? Or is that immaterial?

Guess if the tap doesn't seal fully when closed the water in pipe would drop in level by gravity, only recovering when the pump is switched on again. This would give the symptoms you have. (Doesn't happen in normal household supplies as the pressure is always there.)

If fault has only just started occurring it could even dirt trapped in the tap/washer mechanism?

Hope this helps!

Thanks iggycamper, that is pretty much what i am thinking at the minute. I have ordered some o-rings and hope to get the tap apart at some point in the next few days.

Fingers crossed I find a defective o-ring then problem solved! :)
