Hi all, this will probably sound daft but I'm wondering if anyone has any good ideas re. getting down from a VW camper roof bed? Bearing in mind this has the highest bit of roof at the back ie hinged at the front. Ascending was no problem but coming back down? Not brilliant. I can only think of a step ladder (or even motorhome ladder) but then there is the storage issue in the daytime/travelling. Both can be longish, can't they? Has anyone anything more practical as an idea? All suggestions gratefully received. 👯

My thoughts are a dual purpose item. Make yourself a STRONG hop up(and down of course) kind of thing that can be used as something else as well. Like say a shelf for behind the r/r bed/seat. you can then put stuff under it, and on top of it. and you can use it at bedtime for going up and coming down. You can also use it as a low table during the day. Hope you like the idea and it could help.

Two cracking ideas! Thankyou for that. The van in question is a t6 with two single seats rather than r&r bed, and now my noddle is in overdrive thinking of a way to incorporate both the westfalia step idea (thankyou, Wendyhouse) along with the 'hop up/down' construction (thankyou, Austins). Being a bear of little brain, I tend not to think laterally, hence step ladder. 👯

In ours the drop down bed has enough room to put the ladder on the bed before raising it back up.

Hi J&J, I believe this one will be too flat to the roof to do that with. It's being converted at the moment and we hired one of them before we ordered ours. The van folk said there wasn't enough room for bedding even so the ladder would be out of the question. Thanks anyway. 😊
