Afternoon,
Has anyone had problems with their Dometic fridge RMSL 8500
as my seems to not keep very cold inside but the freezer works fine
is this due to the temperature as over night it gets nice and cold but day
time struggles, any suggestions please.
Not familiar with that fridge, but a couple of things...
1. What is the outside daytime temp?
2. Is the sun shining on the side of the van where the fridge is?

I'm tired of reality, so I'm off to look for a good fantasy.
I had something similar in a previous van. I picked up a 12V computer fan for 50p. at a car boot sale and fitted it with a manual switch. It seemed to help the cooling.

I have the same fridge in our Bailey and on a recent trip to France we kept the fridge on gas in 37c temperatures and it coped just fine . The freezer maintained -16 and the fridge compartment +4 .
It did struggle on EHU as the site voltage was below 200volts AC at times
doing my nut here ...swift kontiki 640 N reg
electrolux 4361
fridge brilliant on 240v but on gas is pathetic ..effectively not working
i dont believe 12 v operational, cos no light at the switch
turn fridge upside down for a day suggested ?? sounds odd
new gas bottle BTW
OK, its an older one, but i HATE to junk anything that may respond to a bit of TLC or repair maintenance
Turning fridge upside down remixes the coolant which can help. However if yours works ok at 240v then no need to do that. To make it work better on gas suggest you clean out burner. You need a blue flame not yellow.
Also fridge needs to be level to work at all. So if your van was not level when you were using it on gas that could be the reason.
