Hi looking for some help! been out in our van ( renault trafic autosleeper) over the weekend, the weather wasnt very kind to us! First of all the awning kept detaching itself from the van! i was using the 8 channel on the j rail, with the wind blowing it up like a balloon! Then when the rain came the van started leaking! first it was coming in through the plastic panel directly in front of the electric panel, also i noticed in the cupboard
under the grill water was dripping down the inside of the wall! not sure were that was coming from apart from the fan vent! has anyone had any of these problems? would love some help to sort it! Thanks x
A couple of years ago we went to look at an High-top Autosleeper. These vans used to have a good reputation for build quality, but the van we saw was in a sorry state. There were very obvious signs of water ingress where the fiberglass roof attached to the body, and also inside the high level cupboards. There was also evidence of a leak round a rooflight.
Needless to say we didn't buy that van.
My best suggestion would be to check round all joints for missing / damaged mastic - especially round windows and rooflights. Make good any damage and wait till it rains to see if the leaks still exist.

I'm tired of reality, so I'm off to look for a good fantasy.
As pointed out. If van has a glass fibre high top fitted you need to resell exterior joint around roof. Stuff to use is polyurethane sealant/adhesive. Brand names such as Sikaflex 512 or PU18. Available from caravan & boat shops or search for online suppliers. Choose a dry day. Clean roof join area with meths then apply the sealant.
