Hi, have an Elddiss M/H fitted with , I think, a Standard MPK rooflight. It is 400 x 400, book says normally fitted to bathrooms. Ours is fitted to kitchen. Problem is noise when driving, vibration. Have done alsorts to try & stop it, but nothing seems to stop it. Anyone else had problems,
& cured it?
Hi
Assuming it's all as it should be(ie not damaged or broken),maybe try cutting a square of thick foam to squish in whilst travelling?..
..or look at attaching a suitable size deflector around the front of it?
If the vent is of the type that is permanently vented, then you may always get some degree of noise/rattle/wind vibration?..
..and it's not as if these vents are that robust or precision made at the best of times..
Hi, thanks for reply, agree with your comments.Yesterday I got up on the roof for a better look. The lift up part is in two parts, both very flimsy. So i took it apart & stuck some strips of foam between the two & put a bolt in the middle. Going away on thurs. for a few days, so willreport back when we return.
Have you tried pushing the rooflight up from the inside then closing it again?
If it feels loose and flimsy when it could well be the tensioning springs inside the handles that have worn or broken. One of mine had to replaced (which was under warranty at the time) and the engineer had to replace the complete skylight because they are unrepairable.
Just a thought that it could be the reason why the rooflight rattles and vibrates.
