many thanks for your replies ,however I have since contacted Morrisons, asda, and local garages that store LPG and been advised that unless the lpg is specificly used for the propolusion of the vehicle regardless off the certification that the installation complies to the required standards refilling will not be permitted
I have located LPG cars off Torrington ave Coventry who will refill but unfortunately the access to the filling point is very difficult if your vehicle is large
perhaps if more off us complain to these bulk LPG suppliers to the garages and supermarkets they may realise the financial benefits if they sell to the compliant systems.
Just filled up the other day in Morrisons , as long as you are not opening a cupboard door how would staff know that your van does not use lpg for fuel ..?

But you can't realistically be expecting forecourt staff to be fully trained up lpg installation inspectors..just in case some MH may(or may not?) roll up and need it's "compliance" verified?..
In the general scheme of things, lpg as a whole hasn't really took off as expected (we've lost pumps from some service stations around here), so they aren't really going to be too fussed about a relatively small number of MHs (especially when said Mhers are always saying how little it costs them to fill up anyway).
It's just a blanket ban on filling gas bottles to prevent the filling of Calor bottles using ebay adaptors. It is unfortunate that Gaslow refillable systems get lumped in along with it but as pointed out forecourt staff cannot be expected to know which is what.
I cannot see things changing because it's a safety issue. I doubt the major fuel retailers make a profit on forecourt lpg sales anyway. It's more of a customer service I would think.
I would guess most motorhomers that fit Gaslow bottles do so if they stop out abroad for a while so perhaps foreign stations are less strict?
Even if you go abroad for long periods, you need to fill up occasionally at home. We found it harder abroad, but then our local Asda sells gas so we just plan ahead.
If your filling point is outside the van, who's to know what you're filling?

Whilst I would agree that an external filler point would be the best way to go (to draw as little attention as possible), I find it amusing that some MHers feel that, on one hand service station staff should be savvy enough(and have the time) to check, and if required "verify", whether a MH's lpg gas installation is up to scratch..and yet on the other hand they want them to be gormless enough not to cotton on that 99.99999% of MHs are not powered by the stuff!
Filled up yesterday at the Benidorm Repsol garage. The pump wouldn't come on so I went inside, They're very helpful, the young man asked if I'd got an adapter then came out and helped me.
We started off filling up at Tibshelf Shell services on the M1 in Derbyshire (also nice helpful staff if you're passing), but now we usually top up in Spain.
Morrisons customer services manager(in head office) has been quoted as saying,"as long as it is an approved fixed installation you can refill" Tell the staion staff that and see where it gets you.
