This has been an interesting thread. We have the curtain track around the front windows (old MH) & I use screens as well to keep out cold & daylight. But I'd put these Remis blinds onto the "essential" list looking at MHs at NEC last week. Now I'm not so sure!

-------------
2024 = 20 sites / 41 nights. 2023 = 9/23. 2022 = 13/35. 2021 = 11/29. 2020 = 4/20. 2019 = 13/35. 2018 = 20/33. 2017 = 10/22. 2016 = 19/33. 2015 = 15 sites / 27 nights. Didn't count 1976 to 2014.

Fiona, it certainly has been interesting. I don't suggest for one moment the blinds will not stop heat from entering a van in a glorious summer because they do. It is not an easy job to close the front blinds together and get them to stay closed/secure. That is why we, and others, resort to the elastic band to keep them closed. They do not and will never stop condensation within the cab area, and am sure that they are not designed to do that. They are just, and nothing more, a tidy, space saving arrangement of keeping privacy within the van. But do not trust the magnetic strip without the elastic band. After dark your fellow campers may think they have come across a 'free to view' drive in movie ! Seriously though, the finger locks and magnets are sadly lacking in design. Last week away in Dorset, we took ages to get rid of the night time condensation on the screen. It was not that cold out either, and put it down to an extra person on board, in autumn and all of the extra breathing! We learned, and the true 'Branded' Silvers are back on board. Just a nuisance last week. I am not overly troubled by them, yes they were of course included in the van price we paid. We will not bother with them during the winter...we already have our 'insurance' packed within the locker. PLUS...the wife has bought me a fishing shelter, so I can fish all day on our next trip. Happiness does not have magnets and pleats. It has poles and zips, and is mostly green.

AUSTINS, blueexpo97 has sent me that "how to write a paragraph" link in the past too. I recognised it. Doesn't add anything helpful to the discussion though does it? As they say, if you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all.
I found your post very helpful, it raised points that I hadn't thought of. Thank you.

Fiona, the new to us van we bought at Easter has the remis blinds, no problem at all.
We like them, no problem with coming open so far.
So much more efficient but not quite as charming as the chintz curtains we had in the aged Autosleeper we had before.

I fitted Remis Blinds to my van in Sept, prior to fitting I used external screens and will continue to do so as we head in to winter, my reason for fitting was that we do a lot of wild camping and want to be able to just park up, draw the blinds, then rise and leave without having to get out of the van to fit screens and draw any extra attention to ourselves.
As mention above by several people the magnetic strip is not strong enough and as these blinds are brand new this is obviously something that has been never been addressed over the years.
Having had the whole system apart I fail to see how Remis can possible justify the price of these blinds (+£500), for a few bits of molded plastic, thin aluminium metal poles and the sheets of plastic screen.

It would seem I have opened a 'crumpled curtain' with my asking how users like or dislike their blinds in use.
We do camp in to winter in UK. However even in the glorious weather of Dorset, and the 'yellow haze day of Brian', when although windy, and a fantastic red sun it was still very warm during the night outside. With 3 people on board, condensation was in evidence. It took a long time to clear even with cab windows open, and a good rub down with a micro cloth.
It is not a case of the blinds being old, the van is just 18 months old, they have hardly had any use.
Our next trip is booked, and the silver 'Branded' screens will be used. Incidentally, we were not using the heating during that week also.
Thank you all for your thoughts, and Badger, if Remis get back to you, we would all love to know what they may say.

I have just received a Jiffy bag in the post from Remis containing 2 new magnetic strips, no letter or replies to the e-mails I sent them, just a bag with the 2 strips.
I`ll replace them this morning and see if they hold the blinds together.

You are one lucky guy. Although, maybe the new magnetic strips are 'Like Pole strips' and you will never close them again ever.
That is me being naughty, sorry.
Did you not ask about the finger grips that slide the blinds across, they ( Ours anyway) are so wrong with the pin locator working in the wrong orientation. They fall out at the bottom. I do not think we will ever use ours again, just in case they decide to self destruct. When away over the weekend the sun was out daily, and the nights were cold. Not a tad of condensation on the inside at all, with old 'Silver Screens'. They are so worth the money paid for them. Easy to put on and remove. We left them on all over the weekend, from pitching to leaving.

I didn`t mention the handles to Remis, although mine have come off in the past, the same as yours. I have stuck the new strips in place so will see how they hold.
In all honesty we hardly ever use the blinds as we too prefer the Silver Screens when we are camping.

Badger, we have just returned from a planned weekend away. Fortunate, that although the site was almost full, we were able to stay longer than was originally intended. Our 'Para-Gon silvers' performed perfectly as usual and will stay on the van irrespective of how many of us are away in it. The weight and size of them really is not a problem, as they fold or roll up completely.
I have glued the 'finger hold' handles in place on our Remis and hope they will stay 'fixed'. Attractive they are, efficient they are not.

My 'remiss' blinds are clunky but will stay closed. They dont unfortunately stop condensation on the windscreen but they do make the cab area warmer in winter.
I put an old towel along the base of the windscreen to prevent condensation running down and into the under dashboard electrics

Thank you everyone for your thoughts, and exactly the experience you have with your Remis Blinds.
It would seem to me from the replies given, that we all like the look of them. The expense of them is a little difficult to handle though. Even that ours came with them fixed in, I presume that Jimsmimm is correct with the £500 +, as we were not offered a price without them. Yes we shall continue to use them during the summer, they do stop the heat from becoming unbearable. They are though darn fiddly to close, with the seats turned around. Our Cleckheaton / Para-gon Silver Screens cost us somewhere around £160? if I remember correctly.
I believe that even if we needed to buy another set, we would still be quids in. They are no trouble to fit / remove and they do the job both winter and summer, with the utmost efficiency. Thanks everyone.
