I've a 2009 Peugeot Homecar. One of the garage door locks has broken inside its housing in the locked position. I'm sure I could fit a replacement if I could extract the whole thing but I can't think of anyway of opening the door without climbing into the garage from inside and forcing the locked mechanism - any other ideas?

Can you climb inside garage from inside the van? Usually locks can be easily unscrewed & dismantled from inside. Locks used on motorhome bodies & caravans are often standard items that can be found in caravan shops or ebay.

It would be a tight fit getting under the bed as I'm not small but I could probably get access from inside if I cleared everything first. I'll wait until it stops snowing though!

I understand your predicament. Not easily overcome, but possible.
If you are reluctant to slither through / under the bed, how about drilling the lock barrel out from the outside. I don't imagine that it would be easily done, but it would maybe just the same if you went down the 'attack from the inside route'. All I would say is, protect your bodywork around the lock whilst working on it. Locks are cheap enough, bodywork repairs not so.

Not as easy as it sounds to drill out a lock. Drill it & it jambs still further. As pointed out. Access the interior & it’s easy. No force required required just unscrewing screws. Alternately a locksmith could probably open it from the outside.

I did think of drilling it out but it's only the actual housing left in the bodywork. The barrel, itself, had sheared and I've managed to get that out. It's looking like I'm going to have to empty the garage from above and crawl under the bed.

Get inside the garage it will be easy to unscrew the lock or push the striker in .
all caravan and motor home locks are pretty poor quality so you shouldn't have too much trouble once inside.

Didn't need to get under the bed after all, able to empty garage from above, remove floor panel and reach down and unlock. Can now replace barrel, etc, from outside which I'll do in the New Year. Thanks for comments.
