Hi everyone,
I have just bought a Mazda Bongo and in dire need of help and information,
1 Does anyone know where I will get the best insurance deals.
2 can anyone help with information about where I can have a conversion done that does not cost the earth.
3 Does anyone have a ball park figure for road tax on the petrol bongo 2.5
Thanks in advance I’m sure I will be posting on here frequently looking for help for my new hobby.
Jean

Welcome to the forum, here's a few quick answers for you.

1. Have a look on Bongofury the website for everything to do with the Bongo. There should be some friendly insurance companies advertised or mentioned.

2. There are hundreds of converters out there, price depends on what you want and where you are.

3. The taxation class should be on the V5 so you can look up the VED rate.

Hope this helps to get you started.

Rob

Jean,

Welcome to the forum.

I admire you!

If it was me I would have done all the research before I bought the Mazda.

Boring I know.

I am sure it will work out fine.

Others will be along to help I am sure.

Thanks very much woodman2 I know that would have been the proper way to go about it but doing things in the proper order has never really been my forte.
I’m very impulsive and it may turn round and bite me on the beam end but I will never know if I don’t try and she is gorgeous
Have a good weekend
Jean

Hi Jean,
Welcome to the forum.
It might help if you put your rough location in your profile.
That way people can tell you of conversion companies close to your home.
As regards insurance it will change once you have the conversion done. You will have to notify Vehicle licensing in Swansea once the work is done.
Good luck with the project.
Regards,
Greg

Nice to see I'm not the only one who does spur of the moment things. We have just bought a converted Nissan Primastar, even though we said we were going to sensible and look around, go to the camping show in Birmingham at the end of Feb to get more ideas of what we want!!!!! Never happened....saw it, viewed it, liked it,bought it 😊
Now we are grappling around like complete newbies even though we have camped for decades! Good luck with the conversion.

Great vehicles, Bongos. I had one for several years, although mine was unconverted, and just an 8 seater.

I was a member of Bongo Fury, the owners' club, and they are a great bunch. Post an issue on their forum and you will have several helpful answers within an hour or so, maybe even minutes.

Best Regards,
Colin

Bongo Fury is great. Lot's of technical information. There is a members area with many fact sheets, insurance advice etc. Also well attended meetups.

Also lot's of Facebook groups.

ADS garage in Bristol has a good reputation for Bongo's.

Royston Heath in Somerset is a Bongo Mechanic Guru, and becoming a bit of a one stop shop for things like Diesel Heaters, Swivel Seat etc.

New Dawn probably a good bet for conversions. Think there is somewhere in Caldicot.
