Hello and hi everyone. My first post, so hopefully it is appropriate for this forum.
I have had my lovely T25 for about 5 years. The fridge is an original RM212 so is about 25 years old, and has finally failed. The recommended replacement, an RM5310, you're looking at nearly £700 which is very expensive for us. I've hunted around for an alternative and have come across the Carvin 43L as probably the nearest equivalent. Its dimensions are almost identical to the RM212 (millimetres here and there) however, the flu connection is on the left, where it is on the right for the RM212 (looking at the back). Is it possible to connect some sort of flexible flu pipe to use the existing vent, or does this mean cutting a new hole in the side of the van (please no!)?
If anyone has any other suggestions, they would be most welcome.
Hi Samantha, thank you for your reply. I have see quite a few 2nd hand ones but they will be old too and I figure they may fail sooner rather than later. They tend to go for only about half the price of the new alternative one so it seems sensible to buy new, if I can get it fitted. :)
We have had a Waeco compressor fridge for about 15 years, not cheap, but (hope I'm not tempting fate!) we've never had a problem.
It doesn't run on gas, as rabbitboy didn't want to cut the van for vents.
I've just had a look and a new one is about £550, but there is one on ebay for sale (a bit different to ours). link
This advert is nothing to do with me and I don't know if the dimensions would be right for you
There is a Company in Andover called O'Briens Camping. I know nothing about them at all.
It seems to be a family type of operation and everything they do for 'fridges is comprehensively covered. I would if I were you, take a look at their website and give them a call. They will either give you advice on the 'will it fit' or maybe even offer an alternative product / way of doing it. They most definitely would be able to help you.
As well is two words!
