Hi.
Service not due, but i wondered if anyone new of a decent team or person who do motorhome servicing.
I know motorhome are different to caravans because of the engine etc. But the living area must be pretty similar to a caravan. So I wondered if you just got a caravan servicer to do motorhome.
Cheers
Just come across your post. Don't know if you got sorted but I always use Compass in Balby for all servicing, repairs and MOTs on my Homecar (Peugeot Boxer) and Elite Leisure for habitation checks. If you have a problem that is motorhome-specific, Danum Leisure is probably best for advice.
We used CL Caravan Services and repairs at Epworth. You can go to him or he will come to you.
£140 for habitation service. Fitted us new water pump at same time for about £30. We were Chuffed with his work.
Will use him again.
Most motorhomes do less mileage than a car. That said I think 2000 for a MH would be small. Then again a lot of people do use the 'van as a caravan...ie pitch up and stay put. In that case it would be more about how much use the equipment on the van is used. It is then more like how much time do you spend actually in it. We make sure during winter there is no chance of a freeze up. We also remove all the soft furnishings. We try as much as possible to avoid needless problems. No food left within etc. Plus if we are not using it for a month...off she goes out for a run on a dry day to give the engine oil a swish round and make sure on our return that tyre's are in a different place on the ground.
Even after all of this...yes we have the habitation check. We think it is worth it, we use the supplying dealer for motor service and habitation service. We have had three from new from the same place and would only stop if we sell the one we have now. Which we know 'they' will have back in a second.
Do we need to have the engine and habitation service done every year? Afterall we only do limited mileage every year. We don't do the 12,000 our cars do.
