Long time member/ user of this site. Initially used to research kit for a 5+ week Europe trip in 2011. Bought a folding camper and enjoyed it so much we had another similar trip in 2013.

Finally sold out folding camper in Ca. 2015 and went back to occasional camping in our old tunnel tent.

Today have bought a motorhome! 6 berth so will accommodate the four of us comfortably, without the need to regularly use the dinette area. Rear large bunks as well which were essential to maintain enthusiasm and occasional calm, as we have a son and daughter.

Will only use locally this year, but will start planning a bigger trip for next year. Pos. Scandinavia!

Welcome to "the club". Hope you have many great trips.
Devon to Scandinavia - that's quite a journey. I only did it once in the van although some years ago I worked in N.Finland and I'd love to see that again (to be pedantic, Finland is Nordic, not Scandinavian)

Have you been in a club up now as there are plenty of sites you can use that are not club sites and save £50 a year

No, not a member of any official club as yet. Any tips on ones that open up new places to use the new toy welcomed!

Thanks. Yes, it is a fair old trek so we'll have to see how long we're able to go for and then check where it will be feasible to get to, without making it a marathon. In '96 I drove from Bergen to Fauske in the Arctic Circle in 2 days, but I was on my own and in a car so could cover the distance easily. Was also significantly helped by the Newcastle - Bergen ferry! If only that would restart.

i would check out free camping places in pub or restaurant car parks. you can get a lot of info from the web.

there is an expectation for you use their restaurant facilities, but it means you can pay for your food, no need to shop and cook, for pretty much the same price as you may have to pay to camp on other sites ....
