Hi folks,we're going on the Shuttle for the first time in our motorhome,we intend to travel to Folkestone the day before we catch the train and wonder if there are places close by to stay overnight,as we have booked an early departure to carry on down to Normandy, can anyone help please.
I think the Canterbury Park and Ride is quite popular with people heading down for the tunnel and ferries.
I can't share any places from my own experience though because we always cross first then stop for the night at Cite Europe. We book a late crossing (to allow for traffic) and if we arrive early sometimes we get put on an earlier crossing, other times we just have our dinner whilst waiting for our train at Folkestone. Then once we're through the tunnel we stop for the night in the Cite Europe car park which is free and about a 5 minute drive away.
We use Black Horse Farm too, and the pub. Make sure you tell the site you want a ferry pitch when you book. These are closer to the exit so less disruption to others when you leave at crack of dawn!

Do you know if caravans can use Cite Europe?
Officially I don't think caravans are allowed to use aires de camping car...but I'm sure I've seen a French caravan at Cite Europe once or twice.
I don't know if caravans have on board water and waste tanks though? My parents' ones didn't but I know things change....and there are no services at Cite Europe.

I don`t see why not, it`s not an official aire, just a car park that lots of people sleep in.
We always book a 11.00pm tunnel and if we get there earlier they normally put us on a earlier crossing then we drive aprox 70 miles to baie de la Somme aire get some sleep there
