Our awning isn't the same model as yours but here's what we do: Our pole's pointy end goes in a hole up beside the awning housing. You wind out one metre and drop the awning legs which are tucked away under the bar that's come forward. Put the legs to approximately the right length and walk them out - legs at an angle, unwind awning, legs at an angle unwind awning, then make sure legs are vertical, adjust height and fix if you want (pegs through the holes in the feet).

Not really my department..... however I can say that it is important to strap down the awning if there's the remotest possiblity of gusts of wind. The little screwy things that lengthen the legs are not very strong and would possibly snap if put under great strain. My OH drilled some holes and fitted bolts.

Our van came with a basic awning, but the catalogue has loads of (not cheap) bits you can buy. We bought a tie down strap almost immediately. Then a rubber strip that stops water running down between the van and awning cassette. Finally we bought an extra horizontal bar that fits in the middle to help stop water pooling on the top of the awning.

We have 2 tie-downs on ours - belt and braces if you know what I mean.

We got one set from Windblockers for £20. Very good quality and solid as a rock.

Clicky

One of the type that threads along the awning edge inside bit to add a bit more security.

Clicky

Some think it overkill but the dutch do it so it must be right!

Oh and a tip to stop the straps vibrating in the wind - just give the strap a couple of twists before you fix it in place and you will have no problems.
