Hi everyone

Can anyone give me some advice/guidance I'm thinking of fitting a solar panel to my small campervan only to power internal lights and possibly 12v cool box etc.
Any advice on what size panel? maybe 80 to 100 watt. Any advantages/disadvantages. Any ideas on the best to fit?
I appreciate any advice I'm new to campervanning I've only had her for 2yrs
Many thanks.

and how long do you want to run the coolbox for? and if in this country how do you plan to get enough sunlight to recharge the battery (which would be totally flat from previous days use) via the solar panel?

honestly 12v coolboxes are only any good when the engine is running when you are travelling

Depending on the solar panel.....you only need daylight, not especially sunlight. It’s worth remembering though it won’t replace a leisure battery, it will ‘trickle feed’ your battery to keep it topped and healthy to give you a few days longer on your leisure battery. You will still need to keep your leisure battery healthy with a decent charge via hookup.

Just for lights etc a 50w freestanding will be enough, if its flat on the roof and for winter use don't consider anything less than 100w.
To run a cool box is another matter, you'll be far better with a gas electric combi coolbox, or consider covering the roof with panels and don't use the coolbox on a night
