Any ideas please?
The MOHO is a 14 plate with only 25k on the clock. We use regularly, mainly on EHU but also used without no problems.
About 6 weeks ago, went into it on the drive to get something - not enough leisure battery to even turn on the Master.
Plugged it in and a few days later, drove about 100 miles to a site without EHU. Showered etc, went for a meal, when we got back, no electric from the battery, showing nil on the setting.
Since then been away, mainly EHU but had a night without no problem.
Yesterday battery dead again. (There are 2)
OH took them to a battery specialist to check, both totally dead, totally dry. 2 new batteries £240 gulp, but guy said put them on and come back in the van for him to check. Thought too much power going into them had burned them out. He did checks and found nothing wrong.
Any ideas how to prevent this happening again you clever folk?
Thanks a bunch

yeah remove and charge them on a trickle charge in your garage using a smart charger, if they are the original batteries then you are lucky to have got 4 years out of them esp without the smart charger being put on them

Are these Banner Battery's by any chance , we had 2x110 amps fitted in our Bailey and they had to be topped up with distilled water every 3 months . They failed after 2 years even though we topped them up regularly so we replaced them with 2 x 95 amp Varta LDF

The best advice is to do some research on deep cycle batteries which is what leisure batteries are. A car or vehicle battery is a shallow cycle battery and function differently so the maintenance for each type can be somewhat different. Using an independent smart charger at home to keep the batteries fully charged will prolong the battery life but understanding how the batteries perform and the proper maintenance required is half the battle to saving money in the long term. Originally, my 110 ah battery had to be replaced after just two years and the same with the second one too till I found out that I was using the the wrong trickle charger but once I bought a smart charger my current battery I have had for five years and still working effectively.

I need a new battery for my 2006 lunar Solaris special edition caravan
My van is permanently sited and I can't get to it until April but would like to get the battery before I go....Does anybody know what size I need
This section is for Motorhomes and Campervans so you would be more inclined to get a positive response to your answer if you start a new thread under the caravan section with 'Lunar Solaris Battery' in the main title.

depends on how often your charging it? why not test it out with a 12v light connected to it?

We had a similar issue - 2nd leisure battery cooked and gassed when we were away at Christmas - the knock on effect is that it in turn ruined the original battery so 2 new batteries ordered from Tayna online.
Also some conflicting advice around. The last time I bought a leisure battery AGM were supposedly the best but now advice seems to be EFC. All very confusing but thankfully EFC are cheaper.
Hope you are sorted and have a trouble free few years from your new batteries.

Thanks for all the helpful tips.
Apparently they are not the type which need topping up.
We've only had the van for 2 years, it had about 8k on the clock when we bought it, which isn't very much. Maybe it had been standing unused for a long time before we bought it. Fingers crossed.
We took early retirement 2 months ago, so finances are tighter than they were.
And of course the washing machine broke last month and we had to get a new one!!
